  1. Wekfest 2010!!!

February 28, 2010 by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events, Featured News

What a show!!!! So many cars and so many more people. The show was a success and the roll in went pretty smooth. Some teasers will be up tonight and the rest of the pics will be up by tomorrow, too many pictures to go through and edit. Also, the photo shoot that we did for Brian’s S2K will be up later tonight. If you were at the show and saw Brian’s car, along with the photos from the shoot were there. Mr. Jimmy Uy  completed his car at 2am the morning of the show, so congrats to him. It was a good thing that Matthel had me make him a display board for the show, his car seemed like the center of attention every time a group of people passed by. As I was leaving the show, the fire marshall was heading into the garage, I wonder if it was passed the max occupancy of the garage… Any ways stay tuned, and check back here later tonight and tomorrow for  A LOT of pictures…

  3. Bob’s Donuts Track Day 11.27.09

    November 28, 2009 by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events

As you know, The Shop attended a track day on Black Friday, hosted by owner of Bob’s Donuts, Don Ahn. The event took place 4 hours south of the Bay Area at Buttonwillow Raceway. I rolled in with a couple friends and customers of the shop the night before because of the 7:30am drivers meeting. This was the most diverse track day that I have attended. There were your drifters, you had your Corvette drivers, BMW guys, and some Honda Challenge competitors. There was a Dodge SRT-10 truck driving around and Matt, in his Police Interceptor (long story short, the RX-7 wasn’t ready to be tracked). Moring sessions started with the drifters, they never cease to amaze me and they never cease to kick up dirt onto the track. since the day started late, they had to combine the novice, intermediate, and advanced group. We BBQ’d for lunch before the afternoon sessions begun. Towards the end of the day the wind picked up and the clouds moved in and started to drizzle, it wasn’t enough to stop the last session, but it made for some hairy conditions. I wan to thank Don for allowing me to get on track to take pics at the 1st and 2nd hills. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment for more please visit our gallery.

  4. Boss Man’s Birthday

    November 15, 2009 by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events

Yesterday was Matthel Ma’s birthday, if you don’t know him already, he is the owner and manager of The Shop San Bruno. Some friends, mechanics and long time customers of Matthel went out today for paintball fun at NorCal Paintball in Petaluma. It was a nice mix of experienced players, one of the being Matthel, and some newbies. At the end of the day we played a game of Terminator, for those that don’t know, it’s when one person plays against all. The Terminator cannot die and the game ends when they give up or they kill everyone on the field. Matthel and good friend Bud volunteered for that position. FYI Matthel is the one sticking out like a sore thumb, in the Hawaiian shirt. also the referees let me on the field with my camera, which I was a little weary about, but the pics came out awesome, flip through them below or visit our gallery.

  5. Hella Flush Meet @ BlackTrax

    November 14, 2009 by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events

Wide rims, stretched tires, slammed cars… Thats the name of the game. Hella Flush held a very organized meet at BlackTrax performance today in Milpitas. I joined Jimmy Uy, a friend and a customer of The Shop, this morning for roll in and staging. Before the meet even begun, the forecast was extremely gloomy. As staging continued through the rain, the South Bay weather prevailed and we were left with a nice sunny show and some awesome lighting for pictures. A wide variety of cars were in attendance, from VDubs to toyota’s and old school Datsun’s to an LS1 powered GS. I asked Jimmy, “Don’t you worry about scraping?” and he answered, “I don’t worry about scraping, I just scrape”. It is always heart wrenching to watch these people go up a driveway, shoot, I worried about my car scraping and I am inches above all of the other cars there. This car lifestyle is all about doing more than the other guy and every show the standard is raised higher and higher. Though I did leave early, there were more cars parking, providing more eye candy for attendees. Visit the Gallery for higher res pics, or flip through the album below…

What a day! Thanks to everyone that came out to celebrate with us and to those that donated, it wouldn’t be a celebration without you. From roll in to roll out, it was a beautiful day in San Bruno. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken , and beer, it was an event to be at. Wonderful company, great food, and cars from Honda Civics to Ford Cobra’s equals an awesome day. To those that missed out, don’t worry there will be more BBQ’s to come in the future as The Shop San Bruno is now bigger and even better with another garage and 2 more lifts to serve you.

  9. 10th Annual Freakmont meet

by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events
The Shop was a vendor at the 10th Annual Freakmont meet at Lemans Karting in Fremont. I believe at the raffle Matt gave out 3 oil changes and 1 alignment. Nice day, free food, and PICTURES. The meet was of moderate size and Lemans was doing some cheap rates for racing. Matthel’s show stopping FD was out doing its job, promoting The Shop, along with Matt’s Z32, Maxima, and Jeff’s S2K. An friend of mine was also a vendor, photoshootmycar.com, doing his thing. He brought out the New 370Z (this thing is awesome in person), R33 GTR and he Matrix… Enjoy

  10. Memorial Day Drag Racing

by C.Castro · Filed Under: Events
The Shop crew went over to Infineon for some drag racing. Matt, Lawton and Roni were running there cars. Jermz and Rob tagged along and Jeff, Jieun, and Lewis met us up. On the way to the track Roni got pulled over. CHP got him for lowered vehicle, modified exhaust and intake, unreadable front plate, and expired tags… J/K he only got the exhaust ticket, he was nice enough to let us go with warning for speeding. First runs were not so great, Lawton ran a 15.4, Roni stalled and ran a 18.7 ( video is available ), and Matt was stuck in the 12.1 range. Roni finally broke into the 14′s, lawton is still a tenth or two faster, and Matt should be hitting low 11′s…
    ENJOY!!!
Roni and his all time worst launch and 1/4 mile time…
